We are watching the world governments become embroiled in unrest, especially in the radical East, meaning the unwashed, uncivilized, eh, after all I can call them this, why? based on the evidence before me and everyone else as presented by the far off DC media outlets of the state--they can't be the Etat le quatrieme but the word was first by Burke first(in parliament in 1787), since the function of that philosphic form of government is to tell the truth and report the news).

Anyway, these governments all over the middle east, pale before a rising tide of people protesting their rulers(who are after all totalitarian, if not in the form of a "prime" minister, in the form of religious radicals who adhere to a faith which rewards people for murder and which practices "matricide" telling us from one muslim Cleric that recent earthquakes are caused by women who go uncovered for God's sake).

And those unwashed who wraile unjust situations as they are wont to do, as they have in Madison Wisconsin these past few days) are amongs the midst of nearly 1/5 of our working population working for, you guessed it--GOVERNMENT. AND THEY BELONG TO A UNION.

This doesn't sound much different to me that the Soviet, with it's basic ruling class while the rest of the peasants suffer up the grains which pass down the angled glass to pile up in mounds of death in an hour-glass - so they support the ruling 20% and the unwashed percentage of our population who live in some form or another, on Governments handouts, such as "struggling by on unemployment which amounts to enough to keep them out of the workforce, with 60 millions of us living on Food Stamps, and we have not dealt with the unemployable, the percentage of the population which has already lived 3 and 4 generations on Government provided hand to mouth speciousness, of a government which really doesn't give a damn). Getting tired of the parentheticals, huh?

okay, lets look at this then: what does this large class of people, working for government really mean? 20% of the US Population as a whole is 61 million. Now, granted, that is an invalid number but I use it to make a point: 60 million people collect food stamp funds. that is 20% of our legal population.

here are the numbers in general: 80,000,000 people are employed, approximately 1/4 of the population. If unemployment is 10%, or more(which we know from state by state numbers that the unemployment population is approximately 10%, we can then say that somewhere around 5 to 10 million people, formerly employed are now unemployed. This does not include people who have been removed the from employment statistical calculation model, perhaps as much as 10% by various estimates. And this does not include the percentage of population living on Government Stipend(Welfare). We know that the number at any one time is about 30,000,000 people, collecting some form of welfare. This number is misleading in itself. But here are the government numbers:

If you use those who are supported by Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)--best described as a federal largess to indigent families with dependent children--as stated by the Dept. of Health the data suggests 1.7% of the total population that derive over 50% of their income from Welfare supports.

The number stated that receive any portion of their support from from welfare assistance--including food stamps--it is 29,900,000 or roughly 8% of the total population in the United States.

This breaks down to:

39% white 11,661,000 of 29,900,000 recipients

38% black 11,362,000 of 29,900,000

17% Hispanic 5,083,000 of 29,900,000

That is a lot of people. OH. I forgot to mention, These are 2000 US Census numbers, not even 2010. What if this number has increased by 10 or 20%? If there are 60 million people collecting food stamps, It would mean that as a percentage of just collecting some form of public support has not just increased by 10 or 20% -- it indicates a increase by a factor of at least 2. I haven't found yet what the true numbers are but as a case in point we are able to ascertain from 2000 numbers(FROM THE US Government) That things were not exactly in good shape with 8% of the population for the Census of 2000(308 Million) is living on some form of Government
support. What do you suppose the numbers are today? 20%? More?

As for the underemployed, I count myself as one of those. But my point is, if the total workforce should number somewhere around 90 million(+ or - 5 million) and we have an elderly retired class of approximately 60,000,00 we can estimate based on 2000 numbers that the population not contributing to the general welfare of the union and it's greatness is about
140 million. This leaves a population of 80 million workers, 20% of whom work for a goverment entity(18 Million of there are 90 million workers and 16 million if 80 million workers is the figure used(Government employment has increased at a steady rate each year).

So what does that mean? of the work force, those doing anything constructive is about 65 million people. Those that are figuring out how to spend their money is 16 to 18 or figuring out how to get more of the public's money or hold on to their vastly great benefits package which most in the private sector cannot afford. We have not even dealt yet with Government works who are covered by unions let alone the Teachers union for those teachers who are employed via a union in the state.

Now, I am not an expert in these matters. I just know that there is something wrong with people say they support and why they support it. And it keeps us on total opposite sides of the fence. This little bit of looking at numbers tells me that among the work force, only about 80% are contributing to the gross National product -- doing something constructive. And yes, I will grant you that there is necessary government. Today, since 2005 for the most part, I also
barely fit in this category, as my source of income is largely based on Government programs and grants.

But good God! One Fifth of the Workforce? And this is a good thing? Largely centralized bureacracies in DC? Wasn't this locale chosen and carved out to prevent such centralization and empowerment of the state?

Or am I one of the few who can see that there is a problem here?

Or how about the 30 million people with dependents living on some form of government stipend? How many of those are among the "unemployable" and how many of those have never been off Government welfare? Is 30 million a realistic number? I think it is undercounted by 2010 and 2011 standards.

I have not given the "under" employed number as that is not an official number(yet I guess).

But the bottom line is that can expect that 20% of the legal population is working for Government(who knows how many illegals are employed?). This truly is back from the middle east into the belly of the empire. We are sitting around wondering why all of a sudden over 30 or 45 days our food cost has realistically increased by 20 or 40%. Oh yes, we can purchase items that are not top of the list, forget name brands and eat a lot of meals prepared with hamburger. But hell, 2 months ago I could afford 4 evenings per month of ribeye steak at a cost of about 15 dollars.

This really is the Belly of the beast

If I am employed and make some money that supports 1 household, and suddenly I am finding my grocery bill jumped from 60 to 110 bucks, what on earth is happening out there to people on food stamps, WICk, Welfare, etc? I will tell one story though, and this goes back to the tail end of the problems we faced after the last Democrat Commissar in chief had caused due to his shennigans during the last oil and food crisis in the US -- my brother's ex-wife worked for an agency and one of the responsibilities was to show people on welfare and food stamps etc, how to prepare nourishing meals on their alotted funds.

I was non-plussed to hear the story about purchase of rice and beans, the latter requiring soaking prior to cooking(such as navy, northern, Red and Kidney beans. This was in order to get protein into meager grocery budges. Her common complaint? I had to teach, she said, how to prepare meals from Scratch. I found them boiling unsoaked beans and they didn't have a clue...

So what have I been saying? That was around the time Carter left office or shortly after. Which means 30 years ago. Think about it. The US Population in 1930 was about 130 million. by 1945, the move to the city was to complete the locale of where the citizens lived -- now the majority after this date lived in urban areas. 35 years later, perhaps 2 generations and a bit removed at the largest extent, people can't even fix navy beans and cornbread, a staple of the families of the depression for God's sake.

73 to 2013? Come On!

Are we really seeing things for what they are? Do you see what happens now if Gas prices rise 50 cents(which they have since late summer, early fall, we are now at the 3.00 per gallon level or worse, for example, in urban areas. There is applicability and effect at play here and will discuss this below with the energy crisis begun in 73(Oil Embargo) Aramco's nationalization under Saudi Control and this should strike fear in the hearts of hard-working Americans everywhere but they are clamoring, it seems, for "Free Government Health care". So we get to stand in line for what was once a service provided by the private sector and age discrmination is going to take place in this program sooner or later, something that was obvious to adults in the 50s and 60s is now less obvious as are many things, as dependence upon government is a way of thought, philosophy, religion and life.

So we are returned from the far off meager empires to the new socialist states united(except for some of us)...Here in the middle of the empire is one thing we say and it won't be like the rioting that has occurred in Egypt and Tunisia for example. Or tianaman Square for another example. Those things occurre in uncivilized locales. It's one thing for far-flung outposts to collapse, for the "uncivilized," "unwashed" masses beyond the gates to storm their capital buildings and raise hell. But surely that couldn't happen here, could it?

Well don't believe it because we are just witness to 40,000 rioters almost marching on the hallowed halls of Wisconsin -- who were they you ask? Well, hell, Government employees. That's all. The existence of the state virtually guarantees it!

With this in mind, we issued the following words of caution to our Fellow Reckoners on Wednesday:

Oh Really now, what are they protecting? There health care plan(not the one the US Citizen would participate in. And avoiding a cut in pay. And this is at the state level in a "Progressive State" with a budget deficit for the coming fiscal year of more than 3.5 million dollars. This is 'Just one' Progressive state that is bankrupt. I can list more: California, Washington, Illinois, New York at the major level -- now can you guess the action of our current admininstration in helping out in this problem? Right. Bailout. MOre stimulus. More bankruptcy far worse than where it started(now) that should never have been a problem except that in those states, the percentage of government workers exceeds 20% and the percentage of unwashed exceed the national numbers by far(as I outlined them above).

A Rumor of Distant Insurrection

Think unrest in the US is far off? What happens when they have to soak their own beans and bake cornbread that doesn't come in a box.

You figure it out. Either you invoke a bit of sanity in what you are doing or we will get more of the same progressively worsening bullshit solutions from inept people who are intent upon establish a feel good, green idea with solar power and wind energy and when they have to go to work(if they can work since the private sector doesn't fit the current vision and scope and breadth of the Tax-dollar socialist solution outreach of the current administration and congress(even Republicans) I suggest that my admonishments from the middle of 2009 are appropos and are occurring in about the timeframe I laid out when I suggested purchase of food and firearms ought to be on your to-do list. And think seriously about removal to a climate more conducive to free people, free markets and avoidance of a Government Gulag.

I thought I would start off with an Obit that was published in the London Times and then follow that with an observation about Political Correctness. The the piece related to the title which is a gent from Britain discsussing Islam, bedbugs and using basic common sense. He is, as they say, Spot On!

Obituary - Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- and Maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;

Perhaps these observations will provide a bit of assistance in why I do not believe our one-party system works(and the truth of the matter is, it is one party of Liars, Cheats, Thiefs and Whores).

Beginning of Rant!

Look at the DNC and what they are doing to try to get and maintain 60 votes and we are not even at a time when we could vote for a bill -- the bill that doesn't provide health care but begins and starts up another God Damned entitlement -- no one could possibly understand -- except it is CRAP!.

Whether there is a hobgoblin messing with the mechanism, a hidden conspiracy or not, it is time to wake the hell up, America!

It doesn't make any difference to me -- What is going on is occurring because we give a stamp of approval for our politicians of both of these parties to do what they are going to do. BY VOTOING FOR THE SORRY BASTARDS!

Case in point: There are indeed Conservative Republicans. Ronald Reagan, the only conservative that ever ran for office in my lifetime is a tremendous example. He had vision, he communicated well and essentially, within the modern framework, attempted to reign in Government and was successful. Taxes were cut. The so called "revolution" worked for a time. The GOP gained the Senate, House and promptly lost the oval office -- by running a standard, progressive candidate for the Presidency.

Case in point: Lindsay Graham -- This gentleman is well spoken, but he is not a conservative. I like him, his demeanor, etc. But he is no different than any of the Republicans who ran and held office after FDR was elected -- all the way up to the what began occurring during Reagan's second term in office. From 1934 until 1994, 60 years, The DNC, the unions, liberals, socialists and statists, controlled the legislative body of our government, it's agenda, it's programs(entitlements), and the morale and ethical tone of the nation.

Of course, we had long ago given up being a Republic -- by instituting so-called Constitutional amendments. We instituted the primary system that fueled the socialist state -- the 16th amendment. After all, what could it hurt? It would only be a maximum of 7% tax rate, that's what they said during the congressional hearings on the 16th Amendment, they said, and only on "true income".

NOW LOOK WHAT WE HAVE DONE!

And it is: We.

WE ELECTED THEM!

There were many other institutions created -- The FED, a central US Bank, integral to the apparent plans of the Keynesian internationalist economy. I can think of many more but in 1789, the very year of ratification of the Constitution, the battle related to a Central US Bank began and has been an ongoing saga since that time.

I have never and will never vote for a democrat. It took too long to dismantle the infrastructure created by FDRs statist machine -- when you elect a dog-catcher democrat, socialist, communist, progressive, you help them build the underlying infrastructure they will use to motivate voters to their cause -- and Cold Warrior's observation about precinct level activism in the Tea Party discourse is totally apropos...the Republican Rene Dubois version of think globally, act locally. Of course, in general, conservatives, republicans, and so-called conservative blue dog democrats don't think they are progressives. They feel they are doing their bit, busy out there working, building, and doing. Politics and volunteering is not their natural forte. But they keep buying the bit -- which means they buy the premise. That is the exact definition of what a socialist is! Progressive, go along and have government do it. Tax for this and tax for that. Need that land, well then take it. And so it goes.

I have witnessed in the person of my grandfather, my father, and now a voting history of 50 years of my own, year after year after year, supporting the GOP. We three, have never, across three generations, voted for a democrat. But what did we get?

DEMOCRAT LIGHT! - with a HEAVY TINGE OF STATIST FASCISM!

But, most of the time, as my father observed back in the 1960s and his father before him(in the 40s and 50s), he was, he said: "voting for the lesser of two evils."

How true.

Because, aside from Reagan, I have generally been unable to cast my vote for someone -- rather, I have cast my vote in opposition to the left -- and they have controlled, and are "building the crescendo" under which we will all live in a state of Tyranny -- it is here, that statist police, behavioral controlling Big Brother.

I recall discussing this with my father and uncle in the late 1970s, saying we need not fear 1984 the Fiction, rather, we need fear and prepare against the fact. Homeland security is turned inward on our borders and the ability to defend oneself against the incursion of illegal hoards is severely limited. I have witnessed this border patrol nonsense far from the border crossing points. Due to our "liberal" laws, we do not enforce the very drawn lines which define us -- geographic boundary. Is it any wonder we watch while an idiot boards a plane with a bomb he intended to detonate, when we don't allow profiling to be the basis for which we examine serious intent by these immoral cretins? Instead, the BP and Homeland Security is aligned in a politically expedient manner and we have congress pondering how to be polite enough and firm enough at the same time.

There are too many things to note that are characteristic of insanity, which is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result each time the action is taken. No. I won't vote for a Republican. It won't wash any longer. Voting for the lesser of two evils doesn't work. Voting for a progressive, which is what most Republican's appear to be, is speeding toward the all powerful "state" at the speed of a train instead of the rocket--or, if it is wrong, it is speeding in the direction of that wrong at less speed than the far left but they will eventually arrive at the same place.

Instead, I will vote for a candidate who will uphold the Constitution as originally intended -- all institutions aside. And here, I can paraphrase Paul Bondi in the book, The Brave Cowboy, speaking to Jack Burns in a jail house in New Mexico -- I will never betray a friend for the sake of a law. I will never betray a friend for the sake of an institution. Great nations may fall in ruin before I fail to live by this design.

And so I will arrive finally at the underlying theme of my comments -- I will no longer cast a vote for a Republican or volunteer my permission for them to do what they will do -- because they do not have 1787 and it's principles embodied in their platform -- the central focus of their belief is not a Constitutional Republic at all. They do not deserve my support. The GOP's tenants are not mine, and the men and women who run for office do not represent the ideals of the founders -- okay, old dead white men had done what needed doing, established it and we have *#*#'ed it up.

Every damned time I turn around, someone wants additional tax revenue. Now the Political left(Democrats, socialists, communists, greenies, etc), want to put the IRS in charge of ensuring that all citizens are forced to pay for socialized medicine. Just what we need -- Added Gestapo Powers given to the Gestapo arm of the Socialist State -- It is the engine which fuels the whole socialist/progressive/Statist, behavioral controlling state -- This idea of course, given and implemented for our welfare -- here in the US we have a tax system proposed by none other than
Karl Marx and Friedrick Engles themseves -- 1848!

So let's take a look at what is going on in this country since 1913:

We have implmented, HERE!, In the United States, Plank 2 of the communist party manifesto - IT is through this mechanism that Plank 1 is implemented. If they can take it, you don't own it. What are the first two planks?

1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax
elf - a graduated income tax being a component of the Communist Manifesto!

The planks of the manifesto have an intent and it is identified prior to the listing of the planks, or platform and idealogy of the Communists:

It sounds like they intend a revolution on paper first, in law second, and in actuality third, if necessary. When has it never not been necessary?

The document then goes on to address the basis of the planks themselves: abolition land and property ownership, inheritance rights eliminated(sound familiar here in Amerika?); Progressive Income tax (just exactly what do you think title 26, USC really is?); elimination of private transportationand centralized Government ownership and control of transportation(Sound's Green to me!); Control of the media(Sounds like a DNC Plan, and it is!); The implmentation of ownership by the state or conotrol of the means of production(Industry and business).

Who are these revolutionaries battling against? Well obviously, those who earn a higher income than others, those who own the property and own the means of production, the businesses and this would mean-- OH YOU DIDN'T SEE THIS? HEALTH CARE! Health Care is 1/7th of the total US Economy. I don't own a business. But I want the right to do so. I don't own the means of product, but I want the right to have it if I can get it. Even if I am a wage earner, I have a better chance at a good lifestyle than anywhere else in the world.

And we celebrate this eve of the initial christening in this great land. We may at times find ourselves in fear near the waters of Babylon, crying next year, in Jerusalem -- but I tell you, Jerusalem is before us as is the kingdom of God. If we do not see it, we are captive just as the Isrealites were those many years before the Yeshua.

Charles Dickens wrote, and being the absolute pessimist, I must frequently recall this passage:
"reflect upon your present blessings of which every man has many, not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some."

I have in my life lived the "scrooge", and I do not wish others to dwell upon this great calamity as other than my own making for just as Old Ebenezer was wont to grab onto all wealth, by whatever means, so to did he come to recognize that his judgement lay in his deeds to and for other men. "Oh! but he was a tight-fisted hand at the grindstone, Scrooge! a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner!"

There was a book published back in the 1960s which address the apparent duality which seems to exist in most people, both ill and well, diseased of mind or magnificent in perception -- but that duality, that perception causes the war of two things, and it is this that I observe of myself.

At the moment of awakening, with the Spectre of the future laid before him, no answer was given, only a pointed finger to the tomb. Our Christian heritage tells us that we shall be judged by our deeds on earth. The Buddhist explain life in terms of Samsara and the possibility of awakening....and the "sociable God"? He is all things by all names to all peoples and would have us experience the kingdom in the here and now not at the other end of some other millenia.

But Scrooge, had visitors four and in that one moment he became awake to his only possible redemption. In service to others.

In this veign then I hold patriots of the past in the most esteemed regard for they were the pathway of a liberalism that freed men in the realm of man as well as allowed him to express his faith and hope in whatever form of religion for whatever reason, honoring whatever name chosen with which to address God.

Those freedoms and ideals are eroding under an onslaught of Statism -- an artificial entity to become the means of succor for the masses. That is a failed idea and a failed concept, a false god and a false religion. A false teaching and faulty observation of the nature of things. I prefer not to reduce ourselves to creating a commi-tsar in place of the tsars we have elected and cannot seem to be rid of.

I do not wish to "dwell in the skellars of the dome of the Universe of creation". I will instead, to focus my mind and my heart tonight and tomorrow on the blessings of my life. I pray you will do this simply and with heartfelt meaning and that you dwell yourselves on these thoughts. I pray as well that we have not created the complete chain of slavery which our own Caesar, now become godlike, will make us wear ourselves having forged the very links in the creation of those very same chains.

May God Bless, as Red Skelton would say to all at each closing of his television program.

Well, well. Navy Beans and Ham -- or Uranium?

All of a sudden, the international left and it's American conspiratorial Counterpart has been outed with a peak at a few Emails, that demonstrate that the English organization falsified data to prove man-made global warming. Hmmm.

I imagine Al Gore seeing all of his hopes turn down the drain of humanity, the way his political career has done in the United States. He will have much good company, including join the Green-movement, mover and shaker, co-conspirator, Mikhail Gorbachev in the ash-can of political viability, sans the lies, cheats, thieves and whores of the American Left, in general and of the Green-movement specifically.

Want to reduce CO2 emissions? There are two ways and wind energy is not one of them, unless everybody goes back to eating navy beans and ham -- which we all may have to do if the left continues to spend us into an oblivion from which the survivors will find difficult to recover--and navy beans and ham nationwide could not match in the production of useless gas as is produced in the environs of our nation's capital, and as we are finding out, harnessing gas bags is a terrible proposition without shooting them first. In that case, I think truly we are at the point that Claire Wolfe Observed not that long ago at the Libertarian Convention in Arizona in 1996 - "It's too late to work within the system, and too early to shoot the Bastards(Yet)".

I like Uranium.

Harold Bell, my grandfather, went off to Nevada in 1924 to drill exploratory wells for finding Uranium. Harold drove a new Model-T to Nevada and it was a used up hunk of iron by the time he had returned in 1925.

Harold's son, my father, Edwin, worked in the "Nuclear energy program" so to speak, for all of his life -- probably died of intersticial fibrosis due to Molybdenum. It makes me wonder at the powers and influence of Government, as the request for an autopsy was conveniently fouled up and if their were such contaminated organs, they were discarded before the family request was carried out.

I don't know that the autopsy would have revealed anything more. But it may have done.

My father was a patriot of the first kind, you know, 1789? Not some false statist version as was instituted in many bureaucracies instituted at the bequest of and since FDR. At any rate,he had a very good life, was in the midst of things that happened in the middle 50 years of the 20th century and he was a very honorable man. I miss him terribly. wouldn't wish a death by this disease upon anyone, but in a way, he did not witness the events of 9/11. I believe if he had, he would have died of a stroke or heart attack, watching an attack of this dimension on our soil.

I should recall here, that my father's "nuclear" career began, so to speak, in the Military-- the US Army Aircorp. He was one of the men who flew to Tinian in 1945, and use that Island as a base for attacking the Japanese forcing a close to World War II. Not mentioning names, he was the type of man who noticed things and he noticed that many of the officers were poor dumb bastards and didn't know how to do anything and the way most of them became officers was to have obtained prior to service a college degree. The piece of paper didn't keep them from being ultimately dumb, but it got them an officer's rank and the money and power that went with it.
After the war, one such officer being the reason he did so, my father attended the University of Missouri and graduate Cum laud in 1948 with a degree in electronic engineering. Thus did my father end his military career working with a nuclear weapon delivery system(The radar on the planes Bock's Car and Enola Gay), but later in designing and developing radar for [--?--] for various [--?--]'s delivery systems.

I like Uranium, not as much as gold in the short-term(which may be a long term if our left-ist, socialist congress remains in session another day or two), BUT if I had the option and if I had any money beyond my investment in the sort term yellow metal(real stuff, not stocks)... [I don't have the option in either of the two cases, short and long term] but if I did, I would choose uranium over wind energy or solar energy hands down(Because I have half a light bulb still able to be lit).

So in this longer view, because I know that wind-energy generation, electric cars and navy beans are not an option, and hoping though dispairing of humanity encountering a world-wide catastrophe in which as much as 1/4 or more of the population dies in a single year or two(armageddon, a plague, etc), then if the world is to reduce emissions which is a laudable goal for us to maintain the beauty of the areas in which we live and work and the aura which surrounds us in the process, then my bet is nuclear energy will be the solution. There is no other alternative which can produce enough energy to supply the needs of mankind and reduce as well, carbon emissions.

1. The US and Soviet public has had a great fear of nuclear reactors since Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. As the world seeks to cut back on carbon emissions, and with publics which will not wish to face brown-outs(remember those), or plain peasant living in the 21st century, they will opt for the lesser evil of Nuclear Power in lieu of the fantasy of Wind and Solar energy development. The report quotes
the words from the co-founder of Greenpeace, Patrick Moore:

“Nuclear energy is a key technology for the future and [there] should be a resurgence of this technology happening now.”

2. In 2013 the HEU Agreement between the U.S. and Russia ends. This was dubbed, as the report observes, the Megatons-to-Megawatts, in which nuclear fuel for Soviet warheads was converted for peaceful use in US reactors. (the supply is dwindling but has provided a considerable source since the agreement began. When the agreement ends so does the supply. What next?

3. The China Syndrome - the Most expansive society in terms of energy will be the nation state of the 21st Century and it is not the US or any western european nation--It is China! The Casey Dispatch observes that China generates 3$ of it's power from Nuclear energy. TO accomplish meeting it's energy needs they will have to build a lot of dams and will have to resort to nuclear energy to meet the forcast demand of the countries burgeoning production industry -- this would mean that, presuming they do not self-destruct of their own population weight(and a plague), they will have to produce about 25% more in energy, or more than 8 times the number of reactors that it current has producing energy.

Sounds like a shortfall? The US and other western states have the same problem. And as I noted, Navy Beans and Ham are not a viable solution.

The China factor – China currently generates about 3% of its energy from nuclear. If it reaches the regional average of 25%, it will need 8 times more reactors than it has now, putting further pressure on global uranium stocks.

I want to honor those who have served the Republic. Such recognition is deserved and should be forthcoming from the citizens in general and specifically from those who honor and adore the Republic, founded on true liberating principles and codified into our constitution, the ratification of which was signed by 55 men at Philadelphia 17 Sep 1787.

I want to recall the words of Benjamin Franklin on that fateful day in 1787, as the convention closed and he urged the signatures of the delegates in a speech, though he was too ill to speak the words himself and this was done for him by Mr Wilson who spoke in his behalf. I excerpt from "Madison's Notes on the Debates in the Federal Convention of 1787":

"DOCr. FRANKLIN rose with a speech in his hand, which he had reduced to writing for his own conveniency, and which Mr. Wilson read in the words following.
Mr. President
I confess that there are several parts of this constitution which I do not at present approve, but I am not sure I shall never approve them: For having lived long, I have experienced many instances of being obliged by better information, or fuller consideration, to change opinions even on important subjects, which I once thought right, but found to be otherwise. It is therefore that the older I grow, the more apt I am to doubt my own judgment, and to pay more respect to the judgment of others. Most men indeed as well as most sects in Religion, think themselves in possession of all truth, and that wherever others differ from them it is so far error. In honor of this day, the sister of an acquaintance and her musical tribute to those ideas -- espoused by radicals of freedom, who cherished liberty, and established a Constitutional based government to ensure it's general well-being. Too often, our citizens turn to other radicals, mostly of the left. Too often, those who believe they hold true to the traditions and ideas of enlightenment, fail to see that each little act of giving up freedom encourages it's loss and most of this is due to the unwillingness to take responsibility for our own safety, enconomic security and adherence to principle. I pray to the God within me to live by the designs of those who established the Republic -- admonishing others to follow suit."

If If Social Security, FIT and other programs are socialist, then any GOP proffering of a Government subsidized National Socialist Health Care system is just a shade better than what
the American Socialists offer. So then I must ask: What is reason you think you can take money from any citizen and redistribute it to others?

If you give the government this power, it will corrupt the power and use it as we have witnessed all through the 20th Century and now into the 21st.

If Socialism is better, then by God try and implement it. You are piece-mealing us to death and won't even admit the error of your view. You are so afraid of standing up to the tax and spend liberals that you are not in opposition to the implementation of a Statist Republic. Hell, you have ensured it with your so-called HOMELAND SECURITY. What you all have done in the name
of peace is create the police arm of internal enforcement and they are acting like it.

We have a so-called voluntary social security system. Roosevelt is on film stating it is voluntary. Can you opt out? When you give the government control it becomes manditory no matter what they lie about to get a bill passed.

During the congressional hearings between the proposal for a Federal Income tax, it was stated it would apply to only "true Income" and not wages. They promised it would never exceed 7 Percent tax on that said true income. So we, the people, via our state legislators, gave the government control and what do we have now? ONE OF THE PLANKS OF THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO! You see, Lenin knew what the power of taxation would do across time. Nikita Kruschev knew our system would destroy itself from within -- and WE, the CITIZEN, ARE MAKING IT HAPPEN!!

The law which created Homeland Security is up for renewal. It has abused its powers left and right. Sure, it has prevented some problems. BUT THESE COULD BE AVOIDED BY A FUNCTIONAL IMMIGRATION SYSTEM AND ADEQUATE BORDER CONTROL. So what does Border Patrol do? From Amarugia to the Southern Ocean

Destination Hemingway Marina, Cuba - Setting sail in my mind as my son
set's sail for the Dry Tortugas and then Cuba and onward into the southern
Caribe.

I am sitting here having just hung up the phone. Francis wants me to sell
the trucks and gear and purchase another boat and go--the adventure of
my own life which was cut short when I wasn't young enough to venture
on from the Dry Tortugas. Before my 4th Cindy who was also the 2nd. Before
things fell apart and the lost world of early adulthood slid away. To dreams
which were only that, and to things which I do now to help others.

I picture the vastness of the ocean, and, sitting at the tiller of a 37 foot
cutter, pointing the bow south from the haven of port for the living of it.

As a father, I worry of course. But both son's are pursuing dreams with
ability to accomplish them. If I did one thing properly as a father it was
this.

Francis(Frank) is setting sail at 26 -- a time when he should so that
he might accomplish the dream rather than tending to distractions
which lead to attachments -- those that make us happy momentarily,
but which leads to our pain and suffering, dreams only, that never were
to be.

I wish him well. I pray for his safety and happiness, from
the Amarugia Highlands at the edge of a sea of the grass of the plains,
to the Southern Ocean, to a beauty of living in the here and now and
nothing more. I see it now, the cold sweep of the Southern Ocean, the
vastness towards which my son will soon sail on a reach.

I wish him, God Speed.

Revisiting 1991 - 1996 The Third Way as a Threat + Claire Wolfe

What should I write about today? I am seeing a communist as a major player in the oH!bama Adminstration. He is surrounded by those placed in position and influential voice who originated from the American Left. It seems like a plan. Maybe because it is. Long ago was written a work regarding the submerging of the CP/USA and it's re-emergence in the 1960s, aka the weathermen, SDS, etc.

Here we are in 2009, on the brink of economic collapse. The left is intent upon destruction of the CIA, teaming up with it's new internal security aparatus(DHS, FBI and the UN?). I don't know. The book was written in 1973 - Diggins - "The Rise and Fall of the American Left". Diggins examined the Left dealing with the intellectual and social movements, addressing the Old Left, especially that of the emerging Soviet Russia(Trading Czars for Commissars), the international implications, SPI, American Labor and the empowerment of Roosevelt, going underground after the last run for the US Presidency by the CP/USA- Earl Browder, 1940, and Socialist party USA in the many candicacy's of various and assundry personalities.

None of these appear to be as effective as the submergence and re-emergence in which we see the likes of Bill Ayers and Van Jones holding such influential

roles in any adminstration since the inception of the now defunct Republic in 1789.

But that isn't so much what I want to impart today. It doesn't matter that they have begun dismantling the smaller form of the Republic(which was the intended form) by introducing vast new bureaucracies which will take over ownership of the the complete economy by government agency. Sounds like a 7 year plan.

In 1991, as Bill Clinton began his run for the Oval Office, and later in 95, the Assault Weapons Ban was of major import. Opposition was strong enough to have a sunset law provision and it did just that. It appears the strategy has shifted -- Homeland Security, Foreign investigation by internal agency investigation agency, namely the FBI, various policies to keep firearms or the ability to use them as the Constitution intended -- by legislation which makes ammunition difficult to obtain for the weapons owned, etc.

But let's look at the overall picture as painted in 1996.

We are a country divided--and I don't believe it is possible or desireable to reconcile with the American Left

There is to be no peace. The American Left is allied with the international left? Don't believe me? If you were on campus in 1969 and 1970, then you know it is true -- the Weather Underground, emerged from the Communist party of the 1950s. It found it's voice on campus in the easily persuaded crusaders. We had May Day demonstrations, 1971, and this was not the end...it was the beginning of the third wave, the third way of Bill Clinton and they are not going away. They have convinced half of our voting public that such change is convenient, that the government will take care of all of our needs. It doesn't seem to matter if the GOP or the DNC is in control. It is all headed to the same place.

WAKE THE HELL UP!

There is no possible reconciliation. The Fascist/Socialist Republic was born with Homeland Security(Turned inward) shortly after it's creation. The statists desire a police state and we are being Sheriff'ed to death.

A major indication of the absolute Gall of the American left is very apparent
to anyone who has even an "Inkling" of what it meant to form the Constitutional Republic, what Liberty means and it's foundation in the supreme(GOD GIVEN) right of the individual to live freely.

The best evidence for this was on Fox News: If you watch O'bama, he lies through his teeth and expects us to believe it. Many do believe: after all, 52 Percent of the American voting public voted for this socialist mouthpiece. He is campaigning again. ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION?

It is my belief that we need to begin forming US Government free Areas and
do not allow the sorry bastards to cross the line.

Barak H. Obama didn't read the fine print -- or even care about it! Socialism is an approaching storm as depicted in the photo above... we, the people who would live in a free republic, have wished so long for the peace of a pastoral Jeffersonian Republic that we are lulled into believing that the government will give us the succor we desire. ..Obamacare is a storm revealed in the single moment of illumination as depicted in the first photo below followed by the embodied promises and lies of the American Left as told in HR 3200 about which even Democrat John Conyers is noted as commenting about: "I love these members, they get up and say, 'Read the bill'...What good is reading the bill if it's a thousand pages and you don't have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you've read the bill?" Adam Geller wrote the following piece regarding a small group of Libertarian's in NH.

One of those interviewed Fled the "People's republic of Massachusetts"... others like-minded, followed.

These folks already see the long arm of big government, Geller observes, noting that those gathered at the " Porcupine Freedom Festival" for four days are here in a small state to "carve out an enclave of less government and more liberty to do as they wish."

It is my view that we should be doing this, those of us who wish to live in a free republic, by doing similar to what the Tea Parties have done -- only establish enclaves in our own choice location.

Geller identifies people seeking freedom from State oppression in various forms, arriving at this "ideological destination by different routes." Some are of the RKBA crowd, others due to taxes, and still others the are for loosening the drug laws(that have created a quasi-police state in almost every city in the country.

Recently in Joplin Missouri they hired 55 more police officers to add to the existing staff. In an event on the north side of Joplin near the airport, 8 squad cars and at least 8 officers arrived to arrest two 14-year old runaways. It was almost amusing to watch these arrests. No violence was threatened. Both the young people were seeking shelter and help, not causing a problem. Granted they were runaways, had stolen a vehicle but heavens, they were in a controlled environment, the vehicle parked and no threat to anyone. Still a Canine unit appeared, 4 regular squad cars, 2 or 3 sargents and one investigative officer. Observers wondered when the swat team would show up.

Back at the New Hampshire festival one observer stated to Geller:

"Once upon a time America was unquestionably the freest nation in the world by a huge margin. That's not the case anymore and people are starting to realize that," says Varrin Swearingen, an airline pilot who is president of the group. "The further we go down the path to destruction, particularly economically lately, the more interesting this becomes to more people."

This article reminds me of Claire Wolfe and her writings, about Hardyville and another enclave of freedom seekers. I can't help but imagine that more and more as Obama and the statist of both major political parties continue on their "Fascist" road(National Socialism is alive and well in the US), that people everywhere will be waking up to the government we have created since WW II; or as my father observed, that those who had acheived victory in Europe and Japan had won the skirmish but were about to lose the war.

A False Spring: If you are like most BO philanthropists that I know

then you believe the worst is behind us!

Which means that you believe FDR and the New Deal bailed us out of the depression too!

But nothing could be further from the truth. I wrote a couple of weeks ago regarding the effect of the Great Depression(besides observations about my grandfather I made observations about the new deal and the actual recovery).

Certainly the worst year of the depression was after 4 years of frantic government intervention in the economy -- which made things get worse rather than improving the circumstances and lessoning the economic correction.

So: Today, you have massive government intervention in the economy at unheard of levels of spending, intervention in the private sector and even our daily lives: DHS, Hate Crimes Legislation, Bailing out the banks and appointing new CEOs and other such government business. Also, taking over the management of health care which is 1/7 of the US Economy -- I guess that means we are going to spend even more money that we don't have to the tune of running USPS-Health-care-type-management Company.

Another way to look at it: If the Government takes in 7 dollars, it spends 1 towards the intended target of assistance. That is tremendous overhead.

The Financials(Banks, Lending Institutions, Mortgages and Credit)

I believe the true picture is just this: The market is correcting because of errors made in investments, whether they were intentional or not. The market is not a gurantee in terms of returns. Businesses floated, and other financial recklessness led to an inevitable conclusive result. Unfortunately that was coupled with:

Housing Starts

An economy based on housing starts for the past 25 years.

Energy

Cheap oil and lack of exploration, delivery of raw crude and refining further weakened our own economic circumstance. Now, even if we could get more oil out of existing reserves we could not speed up refining because for 30 years we have built no additional infrastructure to do so. Couple that with dependence upon fossil fuel based power generation(Coal, Natural Gas etc)
AND No Nuclear power plants(dramatic net loss since 3-mile Island and Chernobil). - See the value of oil and the Dollar in the comment below: Petro-Dollar.

Trade Deficits

The US has been in deficit in the ability to market expensive products of American labor in competition with third world wages. The situation continues to grow steadily worse. Just today, Brazil economic reports show that the US is no longer their largest trading partner -- China has taken over. If you take a look at what this means over all -- continue disparity between our ability to market goods overseas with a dwindling supply of "US Consumers" due to the economic downturn, job and investment losses.

Spending Deficits

The news is in after the Bill is passed -- Obama's 3.5 trillion dollar budget is worse on delivery already (see Fox News, 11 May 2009). Further, all of the bailout money demonstrates that it doesn't do and won't do what is intended. GM is flailing, Chrysler in bankruptcy and several banks are back at the well expecting the next bucket of cash -- which Obama just wants to give them apparently. His treasury secretary let leak this weak that the administration and advisory staff believe the boom cycle is to blame for the current problems so they don't want to have another up cycle in the economy -- apparently, observed Rush Limbaugh today, they want to keep people unemployed and the economy stagnant so as not to go through it again. I would think Rush missed the mark: Socialists want debt peasantry. It was the same under all tyrants and will continue under the proposed tyrant(IF the sorry bastard can pull it off).

Oil is traded for Dollars - The Petro-Dollar

Things leveled off, the market did a short rebound(168 points) and gold stood still(essentially) with oil trading way down. But here is the first key: Oil is dependent upon having it be accessible. It is not in this country or in terms of it's acquisistion or refining to make it available. This means we are dependent upon foreign oil. In 1979, Aramco Executives reported that the reserve of the Saudi's was somewhere between 110 billion to 120 billion barrels of oil. When did you hear a report about new oil field discoveries by the Arab world?

Now I don't know about you but the oil reserves are critically important to the western world and developing countries. Surely our elected officials are aware of this discrepancy. Aren't they? In which case they are aware of dwindling supply? If this is the case, would you not expect an energy policy structured around a greater degree of flexibility and less dependence upon foreign oil? We already know what an oil rich country in south America has done with it's oil bonanza -- and our current occupant of the oval office cowtowed to another sorry bastard who gave him a spanish book on how to establish socialism or some such subject.

Go one further: We are in trouble and the cost of oil is going to skyrocket soon -- my anticipation is that it will do so this summer.

Why the glum outlook? Because the dollar's actual value must be reached before recovery can begin. I don't believe the signs are good for recovery of the value of a dollar in the framework of
the above economic collapse, spending in deficit, and lack of infrustructure in both industry and energy.

The Economy will correct equally(all things considered)

I believe the economy will correct and weed out problems with a settling to a natural level well below the middle of the pendulum arc -- over-correction based on the unbacked climb the market actually took over the past 40 years -- lets say since removal of the dollar from the gold standard. Or, lets say since 1985 -- when the expansion was truly under way during Reagan's second term. The recovery cannot begin until the actual value of the dollar has sunk to it's natural level. Current media types, administration officials and keynesian economists believe the intervention and spending is working.

I believe just the opposite. In 1933 as the depression deepened, government intervention went into full effect -- to what end? If recovery actually began after WW II, then nothing that was done in the 1930s New Deal actually worked. Now lets be honest: Did it work? Even during the war people made due with scant supplies and ability to purchase -- they planted victory Gardens.

As reported earlier on this page -- the Obama adminstration and democratically controlled government want to oversee food production at the local level. Now, what does that tell you? You have heard it said that Emanuel believes that no crisis should be wasted...Now what action is being taken so as to ensure the crisis is not wasted?

This is no longer creeping socialism but a revolution from leadership down -- the same as has always been. In Russia, they traded a Csar for a commi-scar. Now do you see the picture? Not worried yet.

As to freedom do we have more now or Not? As to recovery, it appears that this is just a momentary lull in the deepening cycle of what might be called a depression.

FIRST, The ANALYSIS:

HR 1913 creates a federal offense and penalty added to the already awful Hate Crimes legislation -- as well as punishments, etc. It specifically addresses sexual orientation and gender identify making them equal, for example, to Race(where behavioral choice is not an issue in other words) as well as making sexual behavioral choice the same as religion and nationality in existing legislation.
It creates a new category of criminal offense and evidence rules and all of this is done without specficity -- the language is ambiguous. Further, when detailing the purpose, the finding section includes exaggerated numbers and somehow negotiates interstate commerce into the findings.

Members opposed to the bill attempted to exclude pedophilia as a protected class -- I guess NAMBLA is thus sanctioned as well In other words, the Democrats voted down an amendment to preclude sexual predation and thus includes such behaviors as NOT EXCLUDED. This was done 13-10 in committed according to the Americans for Truth About Homosexuality website.

If you look at the bill, especially Section B, it creates the concept of Thought Crime -- which creates a circumstance where public prohibition against such behavior in the pulpit or the classroom -- It equates thought and free speech with the crime itself .

The Left in the HoR is going to try to pass this bill right now, probably within the week or next week.

Of course this new legislation is intended to suppress religious and political thought as well.

What is the reality of what is going on? Our media(they are not the 4th estate which ceased to exist quite some time ago(by my estimation, with Walter Cronkite)…our media continues to report that the BO express continues to aid us, the common American living in Hillary Clinton’s “Fly-over Country”. You know the sort… works for a living, does not consider themselves radical either left or right, who raise their families and do their best to forward the ability of their children to have a better life than they themselves have had – Nixon’s Silent Majority.

Last year, much of this population was so disgusted with George W. Bush and the candidacy of liberal John McCain that even the addition of a true conservative voice on the party ticket – Sarah Palin – could not save it. Perhaps justly so. After all, who was enamored with George Bush who never vetoed anything and spent us into oblivion, oversaw the creation of the “Police State” DHS now turned inward on the folks who live in flyover country, who cling to the idea that there still is a Republic? After all, what did voting for the GOP do for us differntly than what the DNC has given us? Not much difference at all -- 6 of one, you might begin to say.

TODAY, the AP in an article by By JEANNINE AVERSA, AP Economics Writer, reports that the economy shrunk even worse than anticpated (see the full context via the article entitled: “Economy shrinks at worse-than-expected pace” . This report demonstrates by the numbers that a decline of 6.1% from the previous year showed up in the lack of economic reinvestment. Companies cut back. They sold out exist warehouse stock and cutback on any investments in new products, restocking or R&D. Furthermore the article points out that the people in flyover country have stopped throwing dollars around. Meanwhile exports dropped, in a massive decline not seen in 40 years. The article points out that what was anticipated by the experts: A decline of 5%.

There is No Economic Rebound in the Offing! If you take a look at the first quarter of 2009, it performed as poorly as the previous quarter in 2008. In 2007 signs of the Subprime Mortgage failures began to Appear. The Fed stopped reporting how much money was being printed in 2006. We still don’t know how much money is being printed and it is mid 2009. The printing money remains a mystery. We also do not have the penchant of our anointed politically elite class – and BO (aka, Barak Obama, PotUS) has spent trillions[3.5T] and promises to spend trillions more--perhaps as great as driving the US Debt to 17Trillion, up from 10T which was inherited from All previous administrations since the foundation of the Republic in 1789).

When examined, it appears that the failure of subprime Mortgages, foretelling the future of our “trusted” financial institutions, the increase in FDIC insurance to 250k, the bailout beginning with George Bush and continued “en masse” by the Obama Administration, the Democrat House of Representatives and Senate, has failed and miserably.

Think about it: What happened in 1929? A Stock Market/investor class collapse. FDR Took over in 1933 and promptly began massive government intervention (see my previous personal observations regarding the Great Depression).

Think about it: After 4 years of massive Socialization, Government takeover of private enterprise, FDR trying to stack the Supreme Court, and what was the worst year of the Depression? 1937. Look it up. In an article by Doug French published at the Von Mises Institute, French notes that “…Obama with his
$3.5 trillion budget sees himself as the new FDR, armed with a new New Deal…” But observe the truth about what is happening, now and what is going to happen; observers, especially our experts are indulging in positive speculation, which is absolutely unfound.

HERE IS WHY.
1. The next wave of mortgage and business mortgage failures is yet to come – in fact the tip of the iceberg is now showing. We will see in the near future a wave of Mortgage failures with Alt-A and ARM Mortgages is just beginning, and as Defined by Bill Bonner at the Daily Reckoning, this promises to go on into 2011.

2. I pointed out that job losses cause “consumer spending to drop”. The AP report of today As defined above demonstrates this without my needing to say more.

3. The next failure that Mr. Bonner observes is what is already going on world-wide: taxes are being raised on his subscriptions to fund failing economic institutions. Human Events Magazine, on 28 April 2009 observed the same thing with a complaint of the cause, the lobbying by outfits like TBS and Rupert Murdoch being the c culprit. – but job failures, employment problems world-wide are another wave of the economic Tsunami that is headed our way.

4. The Dollar, which is the value of economic exchange related to oil has not reached its bottom. Tell me where countries like Saudi Arabia(which reports a reserve of 150 Billion Barrels of oil or more—in the face of reports after the take-over by the Saudi Princes in 1979 – Aramco, which then had estimates of only 110-120 Billion barrels of oil—tell me of their new discoveries of oil field reserves? Or for that matter, faced with this threat, what is our country doing about finding, drilling for, recovering and refining new oil? NOTHING. And Obama(and AL Gore & Company) are leading us down the road to oblivion, Green economics and green jobs being the means by which they will ensure domestic tranquility – in the face of

5. of a gun wielding thugs, DHS, Border Patrol, and who knows whom else).

6. THE VALUE OF THE DOLLAR HAS NOT SHRUNK TO IT’S NATURAL LOW. Expect $5-6$ gasoline by the end of the year.

7. Meanwhile we just had an economic summit in Europe where pledges of IMF money from many countries was made – the best way not to follow the rest of the world is not to buy into what they are selling. It is reparation and it won’t work and just like the UN we should get out of IMF and leave it alone – remember – bailouts don’t work.

8. China’s failing economy was already widespread after 2007 or before. They have had riots at factories, seizures, imprisonments and the repercussions of this are being felt from India --who is betting their own economy on running our telephone and service infrastructure remotely and succeeding(when we know that our consumer economy is falling apart)—to the complete Pacific Rim of nations .

The bottom line? The American Consumer society of eating out, using technology built and supported elsewhere is about to fall apart. American’s are just about to find out that Frying each other’s Hamburgers will not sustain an economy.

The Voodoo Economic’s of Barack Obama are doomed to failure -- despite giving himself a credit for success of the first 100 days, I believe it is a portent of the curse of our failed 4th estate – to tell the truth, to report the facts, to do investigative reporting , without working to persuade the people who live in flyover country of the problems with fascist socialism. Yes. That is what it is. Yes that is what they are: Liberals, Progressives, - er-- Democrats control the complete picture of our law-making Republic. Our President has given out secrets and cow towed to the worst of our enemies without defense of The American Republic.

Is the Great Experiment Over? I think the tea parties of recent event are an obvious awaking of the public attention to the dangers presented them. These people may even have bought into the mass popular delusion that infected the public in 2008 with Obama.

You must be the judge – I believe that the common everyday citizen in this great flyover country, is far wise than our controlling elite and certainly brighter than they themselves believe. We must take action! If we are to save what is left and restore the American Experiment, don’t wait for government to save you – you will have to do it your own damned selves. You must get involved and carry the message and work to turn aside this police state, this socialist expansion. If you do not take action you will have, as observed by Franklin in his closing remarks at the Convention of Philadelphia in 1787, inherited the despotic government you justly deserve being incapable of any other. Or perhaps to put it in terms of Ancient Rome, (they too were confronted with a messiach—not a misspelled term-(Julius), and it was the evil Brutus who later plunged the last knife into the breast of a “God”…Brutus who sought to warn his fellow Romans, he observed, if indeed I can still address you as such, beware forging the links in the Chain which Caesar will one day make you yourselves wear.

I am sitting here today, pondering what we did as a nation, as a people, to have the natural law of cause and effect yield the result of our prior actions. Maybe, just maybe, I lived with visions for my company all of my life. A fantasy world. But what we experience now is caused by how we have acted in the past.

To change what we reap in the future, we must change how we act now.

Thinking back over the past 40 or 50 years, I can see now that we as a people have not remained the moral edifice of God's blessings on earth(maybe I should say that I am not).

Here, see the vision wide-screen, but flat and dimension-less. In the post war era our Republic saw the greatest gains possible for a nation:

People owned their own homes, those wishing to work went to work and were able to pursue their own happiness. But soon this "trailing purple" became dusted, selfish, altered in someway by a corruption of...what...? Deviant to the admonishment of our Forefathers? Our brethern? Our bountiful blessing?

What did we do?

We the children of those who suffered through the great depression and the Greatest World War were raised with care and oppulence. Of course we did not understand the care and certainly did not view ourselves as being spoiled. But we were.

As we grew to adulthood, we attached our selfishness to liberty and made it so:

Living life as if it were a "drama" set to the theme of a favorite movie

Living life as if it were art -- depicted especially by a favorite musician

Finding social and moral deviance acceptable expression of liberty

WITHOUT the Soap Opera, our live's don't have meaning. We are become drama queens.

Yes, I know, I was all for the type of realism in film as began finally with the film "The Wild Bunch". But , I certainly didn't anticipate this. We have disregarded the precepts which brought us into this paradise--yes, despite it's flaws and inherent problems, no culture in the history of man has found such great common good with continuous opportunity to improve it -- allowing more and more of all the people to pursue it. (Then you did come to be beloved).

But soon this dream's shadow was not free of the world's dust. Somehow, the lutes had silent grown. Soon, this blessed disregard for Christian precepts was become muted to "angelic knowledge".

How did we get here? Or as the infamous Pogo cartoon observed, We have met the enemy and it is us. What happened to our great experiment? We are now seeing a Senator who is to fillibuster the appointment of a Jurist to the 7th District US Court because the potential jurist ruled that the invocation of God or Jesus in public communication was not legal. Even more, our current occupant of the Oval Office, visiting University, had covered the image of Jesus which would have been in view when this President delivered a speech--that same president saying that we are not a Christian Nation.

Meanwhile I read of a grade school teacher sending a child home with an accusatory note and a bit of exrement from the child's accident in his backpack. You can see the picture of this? The child's embarrassment, the parent shock and anger.

When, where and how did it go wrong?

You know what? Obama is right but only in the following manner -First of all, our nation was founded with the principles of invocation of God's will and blessing. But State sponsored religion was restricted in the Bill of Rights. Both are true. Franklin, during the early days of the Convention at Philadelphia, suggested each day's proceedings begin with an invocational prayer of God's will(this from the man the Left claims was an athiest, or a Deist--didn't and doesn't sound so to me).

We have lost our foundation of moral and ethical behavior, as a people. (or is it just me that sees this).

I keep hearing Tevya singing in my ear, 'if I were a rich man...' with a chorus in the background singing: "tradition'...Tradition!"

Does this make me a drama queen to think in terms of the musical, "Fiddler on the Roof?"

Sheesh.

I am as much to blame for all of this, perhaps more than others.
I recall growing up in the faith I rejected - we had Church camp out on the dirt road that bordered the north end of my father's farm. Out that way, on out past INDEX school was the farm of Jim Courtney and his wife. What a wonderful Christian couple. Even now sometimes I will awaken and have a dream that somehow has returned to the idealic world of my youth and sometimes, people like Jim Courtney are in the dream.

My family moved from the environs of Kansas City (we lived on the West side, Merriam, in Kansas and Da commuted to his work(Bannister Rd, KC, MO), to the farm near Garden City, Missouri in 1959. If we had arrived the previous winter, I would have attended that one room school, Index School, Cass County, MO).

Our farm was about 2 miles out east of Garden City on state road NN from the edge of town on the. This camp was on a creek that ran through Jim Courtney's farm. On the other side of the road was the farm, on the same creek which my father intended to purchase...a wonderful place where a childhoold schoolmate lived, Anita. But her father decided not to sell out and stay out on the farm.

So the distance out to this "church camp" 6 miles, first out state road NN about 3 miles and then North another 3 on this country road that border our farm on the north side. The men of the church used rocks, bolders and so on, to dam up the creek to make a swimming hole. It had a rope to swing out and drop off. We had educational activity during the day and they showed christian related film in the eve showing the film against the white clapboard side of the barn.

What a wonderful thing.

In winter, the youth of the church traveled to various creek bottoms with a tractor and wagon and picked up pecans and black walnuts to be sold to make money for the church. I remember, about 1960 or 61, the tractor and wagon drove into town and Marvin Richardson, pastor of the Southern Baptist church to which my family had allied, agreed that with all the hard work, everyone deserved an ice cream cone for the locale dairy-style drive up.

I hopped of the wagon and it ran over my foot but I was too embarrassed to tell anyone.
Oddly, Richardson was the one who introduced some foreign concepts to a strict baptist church, material from the dead sea scrolls, and the Nag Hammadi(apparently) and other text and resources. I think this actually led to a later passion to investigate all Christian Source Literature.

He left the ministry the year after, perhaps it was 1963 and went to Indiana to teach.
The next Pastor would not sign my brothers Merit badge for faith was it? Because by this time, my brother and I purchased a motor boat at a farm sale for 315.00 of our own money, and from that point on, in summer time, the family went to the Lake of the Ozarks each weekend. Steve, my brother, would attend a lake side church each Sunday(I opted not to do so).

Still the new pastor asked my brother about church attendance, as the family was not at church all summer long. My brother acknowledged that the family went to the lake but that he attended church at the lake each SundaY. The pastor, apparently credulous, wondered if he could believe my brother, who responded, do you think I lie? Steve did get his Eagle Scout but it was later. At that time this occurred, had the pastor signed off on the merit badge, my brother would have been the youngest ever to receive the rank of Eagle Scout in America.

I rebeled, having done so already.

I went to church and waited outside and cussed the pastor out in front of everyone(I was 16 and had quit attending). I did not and basically have not set foot in a protestant church since--not to say I have been catholic to being catholic either though a Jesuit college(now University) is my alma Mater(This demonstrates perhaps the childishness of my behavior and is perhaps demonstrative of the problem I am addressing overall).

So this morning I was reflecting upon my behavior, thinking about the license I took doing that, there in a small town across from the Victorian home of Charles Kenagy, where the large Kenagy family lived--they were so educated, and self-educated beyond. Roy, the oldest(at home) caught me at the library and looked at my reading list oh, maybe it was 1960 or 61. He said, why are you reading this nonsense, and began showing me books and pulled Lee's Lt off the shelf and said, learn something from this. So I checked out both volumes.

My father, about this time, said, you need to read this book I purchased, and handed me Atlas Shrugged and another volume titled "The New Intellectual". I was at once taken to history and political science about age 10(as I was at this time). I read "The Search for Bridey Murphy" and have been convinced of reincarnation, which later led me to Buddhist text and Thich Nhat Hanh and others, recalling Hanh's acquaintance, about 1965 or so, who was one of the monks who self-immolated on TV during the War in Vietnam.

Something is missing and I can't seem to lead enough to help us get it back. Never could.
A group of acquaintances and I started SCA in 1993-4 time frame to combat Bill Clinton and try to prevent his re-election. In 97 the group of course fell apart since Clinton was relected but during our run we had a very good website with numerous articles that were well worth publishing and reading from our wideranging membership. In 1961, my father had a heart attack. Unheard of really, for someone so young. I was nine. I had to do the chores, feed the cattle and so on for two months(Back then, they kept people in bed for 30 days if you had a heart attack and then no work for 30 more). He was 39 when his cardiac event occurred. I was 49. My youngest son drove me to town to the hospital--I didn't trust and didn't want to see my oldest son the rebel. We lived 5 miles out of Tomball Tx and Ian did not yet drive(he was 14). When parking he slammed on the brakes and a floor jack in the back of my truck slammed into the tail-gate. Local cops thought he had hit a car while parking and I got into a big argument with them to leave the kid alone, which worsened my condition. The sorry bastards pissed me off and I collapsed in the parking lot.

What happened? It's as if our knowledge has caused us to think we know everything, isn't it?Maybe our view is just this: Ens Est primum quod cadit in intellectua humano--We all know everything--we think. We don't need experts to tell us, we don't need to invoke God's knowledge or guidance -- we are able to choose right for right's sake without angelic intervention or guidance. But our's is just human knowlege, nothing beyond this. Unless we are somehow imbued with such saintly angelic nature by our God.

I have known men, priests for example and later a member of the laity, whom I am sure had "angelic knowledge" and this was far beyond intellectua humano.

I am as Jeremiah: Pray for me, this poor sinner, for I will blame the cup, which maketh me drunk -- on the wine, on power, with this great human knowledge which denies God or the need for God.

In all of this, I am the one of our generation who seemed to lead away from the tradition, and now this late in time I am trying to re-establish the "faith"--meaning, my faith --In our fathers, in our way of life, in the simplicity of the farm, in our manners and loyalty to the precepts of our Republic, not some malleable concept of transient morality and ethics. Logically, see this is a fallacy from it's origin.

How to counter it? I don't know but I am writing this to give others pause.

I know not what others are doing(those with whom I grew up, and mostly, others with whom I share ideas and life on daily basis. But I hear them and see them. They are the foundation of our greatness and blessedness which is fading into a dusky sunset. I am certain that those long-ago childhood acquaintances and friends viewed me as a rebellious, athlete type bubba, and perhaps without foundation.

When not playing basketball, football or baseball, drinking with the good ol' boys gone down to the river to noodle catfish or sein ponds, or gone frogging, drinking beer and frying the legs in the cool of the evening as the breeze flowed in from Kansas--Garden City, Order No 11 Ground, four miles north of Dayton Town which was burned to the ground by Quantril.

Out west, over towards the Kansas State line lies a dreamworld, the Amarugia highlands, and so it is just so, my fictional county of the trilogy, Amarugia(County) being the centerpiece, Key West: Trout Noir being the first story, and the last, Eulogies(if I can ever overcome the sorrow of things that will allow me to finish the work).

GM Is shutting down most plants, all summer

Meanwhile, the stock market took another tumble which will lead more and more investors to conclude that they should put their investments in low-risk assets. I believe that buying gold will continue to intensify. I am sorry to observe my own shabby state of economy -- I have no money with which to purchase gold.

Meanwhile, on Earth day... Cap and trade hocus-pocus

Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Transportation Secretary Roy LaHood, and EPA administrator Lisa Jackson Selling their greenware at the HoR. They promoted that it would create jobs. Lisa Jackson said: “This is a jobs bill, and it is a jobs bill that focuses our country’s energy on the growth industry of the future.” Jackson provided an early view of the Cap and Trade Bill that indicated a cost of 98 to 140 bucks per year. This is juxtaposed to what Academic studies of the bill find it would do -- For example, MIT's John Reilly found the scheme would cost 3900.00 average per household in higher energy cost and tax. This bill was based on the earlier Warner-Leiberman bill which the Heritage Foundation found would cost the economy 4.8 Trillion dollars by 2030.

The activity on the hill noted above took place on "earth day". While GM is shutting down for 3 months. If you have a brain in your head, you ought to start questioning all of your assumptions.
If the Cap and trade bill passes, who will lose their Jobs? How many? What kind? We know that energy is going to cost us more. First of all, we know it will cost more because the dollar has not fallen to it's natural value level. As the cost of fuels(home and vehicle) go up, people cut back. Keep in perspective the falling dollar, reduced consumer spending(Autos, Houses, etc), the economy will shrink further.

During testimony before congress Lahood stated the he believed the carbon taxes would create jobs, he said, especially "Green Jobs". How many of those will be created? Are they in the private sector or government? Heritage asked: What are these Green Jobs?

In regard to the cap and trade green job bill, the Heritage foundation observes: "....'green jobs' are well defined, studies show that alternative energy policies kill more jobs than they create. President Barack Obama loves to cite Spain as an example of his preferred green job future but a study released last month by researchers at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos shows that for each job created in Spain’s renewable energy industry, 2.2 jobs were destroyed elsewhere in the economy...."

The AP quotes the Speaking "NEWSPEAK" most of the time, at least is able to observe about himself after seeing the recent poll that indicated Amerca was headed in the right direction(more people than not viewed that the country was headed in the right direction), ""I will be held accountable," Obama said a few weeks into his presidency... You know, I've got four years. ... If I don't have this done in three years, then there's going to be a one-term proposition."

MEANWHILE CONSTITUTIONAL CHALLENGE AND EVASION

WND reports that Obama is using his campaign treasure to snuff out legal issues related to his right to hold the reins of Government at all. The ongoing saga of Obama being challenged as not being a US Citizen atbirth continue to mount -- rather than address this by simply producing a valid birth certificate from Hawaii, he is apparently spending millions to stop the suits and challenges.

Green Jobs

I believe in "real" green jobs. Really I do. They will be a necessity. If the Market continues to decline(and all indications are that it will and for the reasons to which I have previously alluded), then INDEED green jobs will be a necessity. Dig up your front or back yard and plant a garden and hope you still have the home by the time the produce is ready for harvest. On the other hand, the government will get involved in your self-sufficiency garden.

And meanwhile, GM is closing plants, more people(since I last wrote about job losses), will be laid off for summer. I pray you, to pray that GM puts a lot of people back to work come fall. They will need to: plant gardens and stave of their own total collapse in the meanwhile...

Big Balls in Cowtown, Out Perform the Experts -- Crystal Balls that is! (thanks Bob Wills)

Well, Glory be, here we are on April 22 and the AP recognizes, finally that the Global Economy is going to shrink in 2009. I am not an economist. but I have been saying that the US and indeed the world was headed for another world-wide depression. A spokesman(an economist) at the IMF, indicatede IMF funding is expected to drop(b 1.3 or 1.9 percent) and this IMF spokesman said: "By any measure, this downturn represents by far the deepest global recession since the Great Depression."

Well, some of us saw this coming last year and didn't need a crystal ball -- just some Com-moon Sense Big balls in Cowtown down h'ea in Houston.

The AP article noted that the decline for 2009 is juxtaposed to a predicted .5% growth it had estimated in January. Who in the hell did the IMF think it was kidding in January? They must have had no sense of what was really going on and all they had was a "cow in the moon" view of reality. (1)

Meanwhile, last week the G-numbers group of nations met and went mad apparently, expecting to throw 1.1 trillion in joint g-20 agreed spending to stave of this economic downturn. The U.S. has committed spending since Barak Obama took office, of about 3.5 Trillion dollars, and forcast commitments to spend about 13.1 Trillion dollars(this fiscal year). I noted early this week as observed by the Daily Reckoning Mogambu Guru, that just the 13-T is 4980% of the amount of gold stored at Ft. Knox(at 1k per oz).

I also noted that Obama out spent all 8 years of the Bush Administration in less than 40 days. I should have noted that the proposed spending in deficit that is proposed(13.1T) outspends all of the preceding Administrations since the ratification of the Constitution in 1789.

I don't need big balls or a crystal ball to say that Barak Obama and Co. are the perfect recipe for disaster.

Let me see: If I get out my crystal ball (looking back at 1929 - 1938, I an forsee, ah, yes -- a great depression, made worse by massive government spending in programs that don't work, won't solve the problem but will saddle all future generations with required spending on social programs (Socialist programs) that would immediately become "ENTITLEMENTS" and thus become the greatest partof the budget and Non-discretionary spending. Let me ask you: Do you want socialized medicine? Do you really?

Let me see: In China the reports(not the official ones tell us that China is in Dire trouble, which means that the Pacific Rim is in trouble as well. Reportsout of China indicate riots, closed factories, people imprisoned and a grassroots take over of a complete industrial complex that had to be put down by military forces of the province. For China to meet it's needs, it's economy must grown by .9% to be able to fund the oncoming job seekers coming of age and seeking employment each year. This spells trouble for the Pacific rim and Asia in general. I am not speaking here about the burdgeoning growth of the Indian economy nor it's participation in various technology industries, remotelyalbeit but staffing many functions of the technical marketplace(support and other technical infrastructure shipped off-shore by US Firms because they sought far cheaper labor).

Let me see: Back in the US, people are losing their jobs, and hence, we have had a sub-prime mortgage failure rate of drastic proportions--and we have not seen the worst yet. As reported in my previous entry, we are heading into new rounds of mortgage failure as we move into the middle of 2009. The Daily Reckoning predicted this downturn would last for two years or more.
When people lose their jobs, they make ends meet. They stop their own discretionary spending and further contribute to the downturn in the consumer economy. Which means they are not going to purchase technology, will cut back on what they have. What affect might this have on the economic forcast for counties like: India? Other pacific rim emerging countries in the techno-biz?

An economist at IHS Global Insight estimated a loss of 10 million jobs in 2009 (US and Western Europe) would occur.

THE US IS NOW LOSING approxmimately 600 thousand jobs per month thus far in 2009.

All of this is further empatus to the downward cycle of the economy, the stock market and the consumer generation which is out there today, earth day, howling at the moon!

Get out the crystal ball your own damned self: All of this will cause markets to sink lower, sell-out of existing stock, cutback in R&D, and the a worsening of the consumer society in the west. Meanwhile, it appears to me that all of the predictions of moving into recovery were based on American Consumerism to buy us out of the depression -- Moondoggle-Boondoggle.

Let me see: Can you repeat after me? Such a recovery Ain't Gonna' Happen. I guess it's time to join the wolves coyotes and even my son's dog Theo and Howl at the Moon.

So far, in this economic fiscal quarter:

No President in History has spent as much as Barak Obama and he did it in less than in one fiscal quarter.
In about 40 days Obama spent more than George W Bush did in 8 years.
An Historical view, and keep in mind that I am not 85 or 90, I am a boomer and I did not live through the depression, would easily show you that our situation is worse of course, than 1974(after 1973 Oil Embargo), where the US experienced only a 1% loss of jobs. Believe me, I recall. I was farming the family farm and putting myself through a Jesuit University. Indeed, I believe it is approaching the epic proportions of the Great Depression.

In 1974, as I recall, we had approximately 200 Million people. Back then, although it was a problem that nobody talked about, we had an estimated illegal Alien which was about .5 % of the total population (yes, that is the correct term). Within 10 years that percentage of our population had nearly doubled to 1%.

In 1974, OPEC ended it’s Oil embargo—this occurred during the Yom Kippur War which began in 1973, because the Muslim world felt they were being ignored, ostensibly, and could not accept Israel as a viable nation state – and they still don’t (see the news this AM at the UN Conference in Geneva and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad statements, causing western nations to walk out).

Back to 1974--Who led this war? Anwar al-Sadat of Egypt. During Yom Kippur, October 6, 1973 in the midst of the turmoil caused by the Arab Oil Embargo, a two prong offensive moved against Israel – Syria from the topside, Egypt from the east with forces of Libya, Jordan and other Arab states joining in. It took Israel days to fully mobilize but they forced Egypt to sign agree to a cease fire by October 20th but it took Israel months to fend off and push Syria out of what is known as the left bank and a cease fire was agreed to by Syria in the spring of 1974.

In 1974, Nixon Resigned, Ford became President and we were about to enter the travesty we heaped upon the South – Vietnam that is, by abandoning them. Oh. Carter. Followed on of course and it was during his watch in 1979 that the camp David Accords were agreed to by, none other than Anwar Sadat and Menachem Begin. Now of course, what we hear about is Anwar Sadat (who was assassinated because of this agreement) and Jimmy Carter. What we don’t hear is that Sadat led the preparation and assault on Israel in the first place. Nor do we hear about Begin and Israel, what happened during the attack nor do we hear of Begin’s efforts get the non-aggression agreement signed. Agreed it was a first in modern history.

In 1974, 1% of US Jobs were lost. The population of the US was approximately 215 million. The population estimate for the US in 2008 was 306 million.)

In January, 2009, 600,000 jobs were lost. This is the worst case since December 1974 during the oil embargo and the Yom Kippur War.

Nov-Jan the US Job losses were 3.6 Million jobs and it is estimated that since 2005, that 13 million US jobs were lost. Of course, some of this is transitory, people found other jobs but the situation is worsening.

The number of unemployed is now 13 Million (who were employed in 2008), and the rate is 8.1%, a 25 year high. In February it was about 7.6%. and started at about 5% in February 2008.(note: I am not even going to address the machination that occurred to change how unemployment was measured by the Department of Labor back in the late 70s).

Where is our Consumer economy when we look at a recent 10 million new unemployed….and let us use the proper term, Consumers, not workers… Let’s just settle on 10 million as a number, recently unemployed consumers. A serious problem But look, what we are talking about is that the stimulus packages that were to re-instill vigor in the financial sector, a “PROGRESSIVE=Statist=Socialist" action begun by George W Bush, US President, and continued by his successor, Barak Obama. Has any of it worked? How about home foreclosures, what is that caused by? I suggest people out of work.

Let’s say 10 million added to unemployment (using a conservative figure and view). That is 10 million people not making vehicle purchases. Driving up and down I-45 North Houston, I have seen numerous Auto Sales lots out of Business(perhaps 100 between Houston and Conroe, maybe more) this includes major automobile dealerships). And I believe that Houston is still viable at least more so than many other large urban areas.

These same 13 million are no longer in the market for a bigger better home and obviously, many are losing the home they have. This is 10 million (and their families) who are scraping by – they used up their credit cards, depleted their bank accounts, and are wondering what is going to happen next.

This is the springboard that occurred in the 1930s. The Market tumbled and did not recover. We switched Presidents. The new Progressive President started all sorts of Government programs to save us from the depression, starting the steady march into the early introduction of socialism in the US – and this worsened the cycle of the economic disaster to continue to an staggering problem which in it’s worse case was 1937. The problem caused the springboard from a stock market collapse into job losses into complete collapse and a return to local barter economy for many people. Luckily, the population majority was still on the farm. They knew how to grow their own groceries. It wasn’t until the end of WW II oddly enough, that the majority of the population shifted to urban and city environments – the war and our involvement in it was the stimulus to the economy that brought us out the depression. It began the “good times” as people found jobs and the growth of the nation’s infrastructure and the newly discovered “consumer economy” began to flourish.

But what happens if the trend continues. I think the March numbers are 650,000 job losses. If you do the math, then about 7.5 million more jobs will be lost in 2009. Housing starts will continue to decline, auto purchases will dwindle even further and home, farm and business foreclosures will expand.

Well, I am a boomer and I am nearly 60. I won’t be able to depend on Social Security to support me. I have lost a great deal of retirement money based in 401k’s and poor financial decisions. I do have one small retirement income to add on to social security. In the past 5 years, my estimated retirement income has dropped by more than one-half.

The Daily Reckoning Financial Letter calls the above scenario the “Multiplier Affect”. Whatever you call it, it is the spring-board to disaster if our elected government continues its progressive approach to attempt to stave off disaster. The warning though, from the Daily Reckoning authors is that there is a second multiplier – and you have to consider what this means. Have you heard the terms, Option ARM or Alt-A? Well, you must be quite familiar with “Subprime” as this is part of the disaster that the American Left, meaning the DNC, the Democratic Party and the progressives of both got us involved with during the Clinton Administration – loaning at sub-prime rates to people who could not obtain a mortgage otherwise. Which is the reason that so many financial institutions demanded the bailout (and Bush began to shovel money into that deep hole followed by all of the progressive solution representatives we put in office).

Of course the subprime problem peaked in 2008, we shoveled money at it and we have seen the result – it still had the level of foreclosures that it had. Nothing could be done to stop it –er-- how can you stave it off if American’s are becoming unemployed in the process, even with a 2 income family. After all, this two income basis for the family unit caused spending and commitment beyond logical safe means. The loss of one job means the plan falls apart. AND IT DID.

But what about these other loan types, ALT-A Option ARM? These mortgage failures are just beginning to ramp up. Which means they will peak at some point in the future, just as the problems with the failing Subprime notes and the institutions that financed them were beginning to tail off, putting the next wave of failing mortgages and financial institutions and this will occur over the next two or three years.

A Big Question is: How has all this progressive spending approach-voodoo(SORRY, COULDN'T RESIST)-economics solved any problem that we are experiencing? How did it work circa 1929 through 1938? FDR FOR HOOVER. In this period of time, we went from President A, the golden boy of Progressivism to the installation of the Socialist State in the person of President B. Franklin D. Roosevelt

The Next Big Question is: As people continue to lose jobs, the jobless rate increases, the purchase of goods and services is reduced to necessities – the consumer economy will begin to teeter on the brink of disaster. …but this last big question is, how far will this go? How deep is this pile of manure into which we have been cast? How long are we going to trust the current leadership to stave off rather than worsen the conditions? And if that was a question, then what all of this requires Ed Sullivan to say: "And now for the REALLY BIG SHOW"--er-- question is:

How Gullible are the American people really? They are pretty damned gullible in my opinion to have elected Barak Obama. I have thrown up my hands essentially on the American People, who have traded what they thought would get them security -- TO GET WHAT WE HAVE NOW!

ALREADY SPENT are Trillions of Dollars. How is this going to help? Where did this money come from? It wasn’t in the treasury or Ft. Knox. It is not backed by the gold standard. It is Fiat money. Money that is printed essentially with a promise to pay it back sometime in the future. So it is LQ=Disasters….the events of the last quarter alone are indicating economic disaster. Still comfy in your home? Stand by, that may change very quickly.

Here is the really, really, really big worry: Today most folks don’t even know how to grow their own groceries.

Just who are the Progressives? Their earmark photos are above. In 1994, 57 members of the congress signed the progressive Challenge. All were Democrats or Independents. Socialist Party International endorsed the progressive Challenge and promoted it actively. I was trying to find the article which listed who those 57 members of congress were but apparently it has been pulled from the net.

IF they accept support from SPI, and they endorse the same platform and pledge to support

the party Platform(which reflects the progressive agenda), then how can you vote for a democrat if you are opposed to Socialism. They promise to support the platform. The platform determines their stated principles and policies. The policies are Progressive or worse.

I tie the Progressives of this era to the Socialist Party USA where their last election, 1948, was the point at which they went underground and re-emerged as the second wave of the American Left in the early 60s, on each "damned campus" -- vitriolic, anti-US, destructive and radical, especially in the form of the SDS and the "Weathermen". This is what so troubles me about Tom Hayden. William Ayers. And Company. Which means Barak Obama.

Historically, progressives believe in the State doing good works(of course, this requires funding), and undermining individualism. Of course to me this reads of Atlas Shrugged, well of course it does....

Of course, this supports the tennants of the American Labor movement which also was and is supported by Socialist Party International. Back in the 20s as FDR began to formulate his path to power, he knew that Labor was one of two or three keys. Of course, another key was necessary -- to destroy the reputation and contribution of Progressive Golden boy, former President Herbert Hoover.

Of course then, FDR. JFK. RFK, MLK. But also George Herbert Walker Bush and his son George who has yielded to BO.

What do they think? They abhor individualism and this is what makes the two Bush Presidents so confusing. They are both statist Republicans, or, progressive Republicans(Believing in Government doing "good work".

"The man who is now virtually synonymous with Progressivism, Herbert Croly (The Promise of American Life), founded the progressive movement.

He said: "The Promise of American Life is to be fulfilled ... by a large measure of individual subordination and self-denial." Henry Demarest Lloyd, an early leader in progressivism said that individualism is "one of the historic mistakes of humanity."

When did they begin to take effect in American Politics: TR - Ran on the Progressive Party "Bull Moose" ticket.

In 1924, the progressives mounted another election bid in the persons of Robert La Follette Senator from Louisiana, and Burton Wheeler. La Folletted sounded like an early Obama as far as platform policy goes but the point is, across the country he did win about 5 million votes, and Wisconsin's electoral votes. The progressive party remained influential in WI until WWII, but I believe as shown a re-emergence in politics, policy and law in Wisconsin since the mid 1980s.

Election of 1948 - At Philadelphia in July, 1948, a new third party, organized as a challenge to the Democratic party, adopted the name Progressive and nominated Henry A. Wallace for President and Senator Glen H. Taylor for Vice President. Endorsed by the Communist Party and by the American labor Party of New York state, the Progressive party accused the Truman administration of failing to cooperate with the Soviet Union to end the cold war and advocated repeal of the Taft-Hartley Act and reestablishment of wartime price controls. Its candidates won no electoral votes and only slightly more than 1 million popular votes as Truman defeated Thomas E. Dewey, the Republican candidate, by a close margin.

The progressive Agenda is as follows(Party line not a matter but the DNC and Democratic Party are hearty endorsers of the progressive movement(AKA Socialists).

End Imperial Foreign Policy, Redirect Funding - All U.S. troops and military contractors must be safely withdrawn from Iraq now with war funding redirected toward social needs at home, and humanitarian and reconstruction aid to the Iraqi people. Under our Constitution, Congress has the power of the purse to cut off funding that prolongs the occupation of Iraq. The disastrous war in Iraq must not be extended into an even more disastrous attack on Iran. U.S. foreign policy must be fact-based, committed to international law and respect for the sovereignty of other nations, and aimed at intelligently countering real threats, such as weapons proliferation and transnational terrorism. Instead of producing more advanced nuclear warheads and promoting weapons into space and building missile shields, U.S. policy should lead by example in non-proliferation by disarming our own nuclear stockpiles. Reducing our nuclear weapons will facilitate negotiations with major powers like Russia and new nuclear countries like Iran. U.S. policy must be even-handed in the Middle East, aimed at justice and security for both Israelis and Palestinians. U.S. foreign policy must shift from reckless unilateralism toward cooperation and diplomacy with people of other countries knowing us more by our helping hand than our slugging arm.

Healthcare for All - It is immoral for a country as wealthy as ours to have 47 million people with no healthcare coverage, and millions more with inadequate, overly expensive coverage.

Economic Justice - (Redistribution of money to the so-called rest of us) - The Bush Administrations enormous tax breaks for the wealthy must be rolled back so that the richest 1 percent of our population (with yearly incomes averaging $1.3 million) will not pocket $300 billion over the next few years. Protecting the right of workers to form and join unions in the U.S. is essential to preserving the middle class, as is federal investment in job creation, such as the Apollo Alliance for renewable energy, and investment in wireless Internet networks. We need fair trade deals with other countries that protect workers' rights and the environment not wage-reducing "free trade" agreements that protect only corporate rights to globally exploit unprotected labor.Finally, we need humane and comprehensive immigration reform, which insures the rights of undocumented workers in the workplace and affirms the dignity and integrity of immigrant families.

Stop Global Warming - (thus encompassing the green movement, aka Socialist) -

No issue reveals more clearly the flaws of the U.S. political-economic system than global warming the triumph of greed and corporate power over the public good, and the near-sighted focus on the short-term over the welfare of future generations.

Reproductive Freedom/Civil Rights & Liberties - A womans reproductive freedom, including the right-to-choose, is essential to personal privacy and gender equality. Equal rights and equal opportunity must be a guiding principle of society, especially in view of historic and ongoing discrimination against women and racial, ethnic and sexual minorities.

Clean, Fair, Transparent Elections - The U.S. election system is in crisis, with voters facing political and racial obstacles in casting votes and in getting their votes counted. Big money and entrenched power deform the political process, with incumbents unfairly insulated by district gerrymandering and rules obstructing independent candidates and parties.

Media Reform - (IMPLEMENT ONE FOR ONE BROADCASTING, HENCE LIMITING FREE SPEECH AND CHOICE OF THE CITIZEN(consumer) - A half-dozen media conglomerates now sit on the windpipe of the First Amendment, having seized the publics broadcast airwaves; these companies helped facilitate the Iraq War.

Everything is now licensed, taxed, fee'd to death and all in perview of "safety".

Let's say you refuse to give blood for alcohol content. You are f---ed. You can be strapped down, naked, giving up blood for a blood test, forced to give it without legal representation -- even if you have only had one drink. Or what is worse, none.

Here is the latest on another example of our Brave New World. It is from the NYT and demonstrates continued intrusion into the "inferred rights of privacy" we have enjoyed up until the past 10 years. FEEL SAFER NOW? I am spitting MADD about this. And more.

Franklin wrote or contributed the following and it was in his notes for a proposition to the PA Assembly in 1775(meaning that it is largely attributed to Franklin and is probably the case as well: "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Now for those of you who believe the power of the state will provide safety, in those cases, just in the 20th century where Government was powerful enough to determine what safety meant for you, more than 70 million people lost their lives. Giving up freedom ensures, in my opinion that you will have neither safety(as history shows in statist, totalitarianism of Marxism, Socialism, Fascism and other forms of the "police powers of the State".

Back to my opening remarks: Men and women with whom I grew up, who were our elders would discuss the powers of the state, we don't need papers to travel in our country. In 1978, I was walking in my neighborhood in the early evening in Raleigh, N.C. I worked for a large computer company, was dressed nicely, suburban attire(not what you see today) and a police officer stopped and demanded my ID. I commented that I was not required to tell him who I was, what I did, where I lived or how many children, wives, or mistresses I had. He debated right then and there further action. He told me someone had been involved in a hit and run accident and that he was seeking that person. I said, I live right there. I am taking a walk(walking toward the scene of the accident). Finally, the situation defused and the officer drove away, seeking the suspect.

I know for a fact that you can't do that today. I know for a fact, here in Texas, BP and DHS
reports are flying about right wing extremists with bumper stickers. And people are being stopped, without probable cause, ticketed, arrested, detained, and otherwise harassed. An even occurred over the weekend of April 4th near Terlingua Texas with overbearing, threatening Border Patrol "folks" to a woman driving not to the border, but home to Houston area. They ransacked the vehicle, throwing all material in the road, leaving finally the young woman to toss it in the truck and drive on.

This is a travesty of justice(if we have such any more). I have more to say on how to control our terrorism and immigration problem but will leave that for another time. (IF THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT IN THE COUNTRY, WE WON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEM -- which will be the gist of my remarks on this matter).

F.B.I. and States Vastly Expand DNA Databases

Law enforcement officials are vastly expanding their collection of DNA to include millions more people who have been arrested or detained but not yet convicted. The move, intended to help solve more crimes, is raising concerns about the privacy of petty offenders and people who are presumed innocent.

Until now, the federal government genetically tracked only convicts. But starting this month, the Federal Bureau of Investigation will join 15 states that collect DNA samples from those awaiting trial and will collect DNA from detained immigrants — the vanguard of a growing class of genetic registrants.

The F.B.I., with a DNA database of 6.7 million profiles, expects to accelerate its growth rate from 80,000 new entries a year to 1.2 million by 2012 — a 17-fold increase. F.B.I. officials say they expect DNA processing backlogs — which now stand at more than 500,000 cases — to increase.
Law enforcement officials say that expanding the DNA databanks to include legally innocent people will help solve more violent crimes. They point out that DNA has helped convict thousands of criminals and has exonerated more than 200 wrongfully convicted people.

But criminal justice experts cite Fourth Amendment privacy concerns and worry that the nation is becoming a genetic surveillance society.

“DNA databases were built initially to deal with violent sexual crimes and homicides — a very limited number of crimes,” said Harry Levine, a professor of sociology at City University of New York who studies policing trends. “Over time more and more crimes of decreasing severity have been added to the database. Cops and prosecutors like it because it gives everybody more information and creates a new suspect pool.”

Courts have generally upheld laws authorizing compulsory collection of DNA from convicts and ex-convicts under supervised release, on the grounds that criminal acts diminish privacy rights.
DNA extraction upon arrest potentially erodes that argument, a recent Congressional study found. “Courts have not fully considered legal implications of recent extensions of DNA-collection to people whom the government has arrested but not tried or convicted,” the report said.
Minors are required to provide DNA samples in 35 states upon conviction, and in some states upon arrest. Three juvenile suspects in November filed the only current constitutional challenge against taking DNA at the time of arrest. The judge temporarily stopped DNA collection from the three youths, and the case is continuing.

Sixteen states now take DNA from some who have been found guilty of misdemeanors. As more police agencies take DNA for a greater variety of lesser and suspected crimes, civil rights advocates say the government’s power is becoming too broadly applied. “What we object to — and what the Constitution prohibits — is the indiscriminate taking of DNA for things like writing an insufficient funds check, shoplifting, drug convictions,” said Michael Risher, a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union.

This year, California began taking DNA upon arrest and expects to nearly double the growth rate of its database, to 390,000 profiles a year from 200,000.

One of those was Brian Roberts, 29, who was awaiting trial for methamphetamine possession. Inside the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles last month, Mr. Roberts let a sheriff’s deputy swab the inside of his cheek.

Mr. Roberts’s DNA will be translated into a numerical sequence at the F.B.I.’s DNA database, the largest in the world.

The system will search for matches between Mr. Roberts’s DNA and other profiles every Monday, from now into the indeterminate future — until one day, perhaps decades hence, Mr. Roberts might leave a drop of blood or semen at some crime scene.

Law enforcement officials say that DNA extraction upon arrest is no different than fingerprinting at routine bookings and that states purge profiles after people are cleared of suspicion. In practice, defense lawyers say this is a laborious process that often involves a court order. (The F.B.I. says it has never received a request to purge a profile from its database.)

When DNA is taken in error, expunging a profile can be just as difficult. In Pennsylvania, Ellyn Sapper, a Philadelphia public defender, has spent weeks trying to expunge the profile taken erroneously of a 14-year-old boy guilty of assault and bicycle theft. “I’m going to have to get a judge’s order to make sure that all references to his DNA are gone,” she said.

The police say that the potential hazards of genetic surveillance are worth it because it solves crimes and because DNA is more accurate than other physical evidence. “I’ve watched women go from mug-book to mug-book looking for the man who raped her,” said Mitch Morrissey, the Denver district attorney and an advocate for more expansive DNA sampling. “It saves women’s lives.”

Mr. Morrissey pointed to Britain, which has fewer privacy protections than the United States and has been taking DNA upon arrest for years. It has a population of 61 million — and 4.5 million DNA profiles. “About 8 percent of the people commit about 70 percent of your crimes, so if you can get the majority of that community, you don’t have to do more than that,” he said.
In the United States, 8 percent of the population would be roughly 24 million people.

Britain may provide a window into America’s genetic surveillance future: As of March 2008, 857,000 people in the British database, or about one-fifth, have no current criminal record. In December, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Britain violated international law by collecting DNA profiles from innocent people, including children as young as 10.

Critics are also disturbed by the demographics of DNA databases. Again Britain is instructive. According to a House of Commons report, 27 percent of black people and 42 percent of black males are genetically registered, compared with 6 percent of white people.

As in Britain, expanding genetic sampling in the United States could exacerbate racial disparities in the criminal justice system, according to Hank Greely, a Stanford University Law School professor who studies the intersection of genetics, policing and race. Mr. Greely estimated that African-Americans, who are about 12 percent of the national population, make up 40 percent of the DNA profiles in the federal database, reflective of their prison population. He also expects Latinos, who are about 13 percent of the population and committed 40 percent of last year’s federal offenses — nearly half of them immigration crimes — to dominate DNA databases.
Enforcement officials contend that DNA is blind to race. Federal profiles include little more information than the DNA sequence and the referring police agency. Subjects’ names are usually kept by investigators.

Rock Harmon, a former prosecutor for Alameda County, Calif., and an adviser to crime laboratories, said DNA demographics reflected the criminal population. Even if an innocent man’s DNA was included in a genetic database, he said, it would come to nothing without a crime scene sample to match it. “If you haven’t done anything wrong, you have nothing to fear,” he said.

Meanwhile, Obama is releasing George George Bush Memos round the world, while the US is still "not" at war with Terrorism--er, The Muslim extremist Jihadists, etc.

At the same time, DHS is focused inward on US Citizens for terrorism. In a new DHS Report, the author, Name not released to public(to protect the innocent) and the the DHS would not comment upon the query of "where the material for the report came from". Administration and DHS personnel are backpeddling, making excuses, or are mum.

According to the federal government, characteristics of members of the suspect group of people include those who:

- Oppose restrictions on firearms
- Oppose lax immigration
- Oppose the policies of President Obama regarding immigration, citizenship and the expansion - of social programs
- Oppose continuation of free trade agreements
- Oppose same-sex marriage
- Has paraonia of foreign regimes
- Fear Communist regimes
- Oppose one world government
- Bemoan the decline of U.S. stature in the world
- Is upset with the loss of U.S. manufacturing jobs to China and India

Now, I believe all of these things are covered under the 1st and 5th Amendments. We are now, having chosen any one of the above topics to talk about, blog about, or put a bumper sticker on your vehicle which complains about any of the topics, targeted by law-enforcement as potential extremist - terrorists.

On Feb. 20, 2009, Missouri's Department of Public Safety issued a report to all law enforcement in the state entitled "Missouri Information Analysis Center Strategic Report: The Modern Militia Movement." -- Due to this the Missouri Highway Patrol released a warning or advisory

which linked conservatives, Immigration, abortion opponents, those opposed to illegal immigration, the UN, the New World Oder(excuse me, Order), as tied to Dangerous and violent militias around the country. After this, the report, or warning was withdrawn by the head of the Missouri Highway Patrol(which is the branch of investigation of the State similar to the state "BI"s in other states.

The current report includes "Returning Veterans" as potential terrorists which has raised the ire(FINALLY, But I believe this is only public posturing as they caught the wind of their own odiferous behavior and could not stand the stink) of congress members from both sides of the aisle, about which, in another AP article, a spokes of the Department was questioned -- "...a DHS official confirmed there were concerns by the agency's office of civil rights about some of the language in the report."

A 1st and 5th amendment suit has been brought against the DHS. "ANN ARBOR, MI – The Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, announced that yesterday evening it filed a federal lawsuit against Homeland Sec Secretary Janet Napolitano(totally capable of murder, just like Janet Reno).

The lawsuit claims that her Department’s “Rightwing Extremism Policy,” as reflected in the recently publicized Intelligence Assessment, “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment,” violates the civil liberties of combat veterans as well as American citizens by targeting them for disfavored treatment on account of their political beliefs."

but I am thinking, Harold Bell, laid off early 1930. B 1791, d 1973. Viva 1984, both Joplin MO. The family came in 1836 by ship to Quebec from County Armagh Ireland after My 3rd Great GF, John Bell and his brother-in-law William John Fallon were muirdered by Catholic sectarians in their respective establishments(Public Houses) ...so The Bell and Fallon's crossed from Quebec over the ice of the ST. Lawrence to Clinton Co NY, twp of Mooers. Early Northern Wetbacks, the Irish.

Grandpa went back there with my father in 1972, just before his death. It, though, must have been very depressing. He had little to say Dad said. My Grandpa was a "Quiet Man". About the worse thing I would hear him say was, when he and dad were talking in the living room at the house on Odessa in North Joplin, and Viva would be talking from the kitchen, driving her version of input to the conversation, and Harold would get frustrated and say, "-oh, hush up, Viva."

Anyway, in 1930(late) , they first laid off the Drillers and non-necessaries to production there at Oronogo and nearby in the ground mines north of Joplin. They called them back to work a year later when signs appears to bode well, late 1931. But in 1932 he was laid off for good. I think he got 1/2 of his WWI Doughboy bonus in 1933. He bough a horse, plow, seed and leased land in the Spring R Bottom. Put the Model A up on blocks for the duration(ruined by the time things looked up, 1939(due to lend Lease and making bullets of lead out of the Lead mines around Joplin).

They bought a tractor, and about that time, electricity quite considerably after the rest of the country--The boys slept on the porch in summer(Eddie, Kay and Glenn). No power, no fans and Harold and Viva slept in doors(wonder of wonders, huh).

So: 1932 - 1939 - Harold farmed share crop a river bottom farm. The only time my Dad saw him cry was 1934 when the rains swole up Spring River and the river ran from high grown to high ground, there near Alba MO(Ken and Clete Boyer, the other 7, played baseball there in town. Norman Kay, the eldest son of Harold's family, played for the NY Yankee's farm club, walked and hitched to Joplin to play ball. and so on. Dad said that he Threw his Arm out in WW II Service ball, but did strike out Ted Williams out twice in the same game. Dad said he was better than Dizzy.

They had a quota on Hogs(FDR). You could raise so many per acreage. No more than that. They sold hogs to market for cash money and they ate beans and cornbread otherwise. They couldn't keep the extra piglets for their own consumption, and still get the supporte price -- see the book, "Economic Calculation in the Socialist Commonweath" by Ludvig Von Mises(Available for 7.00 from the Von Mises Institute.

I got the taste for cornbread and beans from my parents. Also, Saltines crumbled in milk with a little sugar. etc.

The Bells in my grandfather's line have never ever voted for a socialist, nor since Samuel, my great grandfather, for a democrat. actually, not voting for a socialist is the same as not voting for a democrat, right? Even if they deny it. (See my blog on the Progressive Movement and Socialism).

Signs of the Recessionary Times

Earlier this week, Bernanke asserted that the U.S. economy's decline was slowing. Yesterday, the Fed released the results of its Beige Book, which (surprise, surprise) backed Big Ben's assessment. (I THINK IT GOES ALONG WITH 2 LEAKS OF DHS Booklets-deb)The business survey showed that the contraction is slowing or showing signs of stabilization across many regions, including San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Kansas City and Dallas.In addition, the Beige Book said that while "housing markets remain depressed overall...there were some signs that conditions may be stabilizing," including an increase in "potential buyers." Well, these 'potential buyers' will certainly have a lot to choose from. RealtyTrac reported today that total foreclosure filings - which include default papers, auction sale notices and repossessions - reached 803,489 in the first quarter, up 24% from the same time in 2008.

Of these filings, they continue, 341,180 happened in March - a 17% increase from February and a 46% jump from March 2008. "

In the month of March we saw a record level of foreclosure activity - the number of households that received a foreclosure filing was more than 12% higher than the next highest month on record," said James J. Saccacio, chief executive officer of RealtyTrac, in a statement.In other housing news, the Commerce Department reported today that building permits fell to a record-low level and construction on new homes dropped sharply last month, after a big gain in February.
